STATEMENT BY THE CHAIRPERSON

Earlier this week the Board Members and Counsel Assisting visited the surface facilities and installations at Grosvenor mine, and visited the longwall and development area at Moranbah North. Other Inquiry team members visited the longwall at Oaky North mine.

The Board Members expressed their gratitude to both Anglo American and Glencore, and their workers for facilitating the visits, and for generously accommodating the disruption to work necessarily caused by the visits.

The Board also expressed gratitude to Isaac Regional Council Mayor, Anne Baker, and Chief Executive Officer, Gary Stevenson PSM, for meeting with the Board in Moranbah. The Inquiry team visited the Moranbah Miners’ Memorial. The Chairperson commented that it is one of the finest and most poignant memorials he had seen.

The Board travelled to Mackay to inspect the newly opened Resources Centre of Excellence, and expressed their thanks to the Company Secretary, John Fordyce, and General Manager, Steven Boxall, for escorting them and the Inquiry team through the centre.
